Dinghy Sailing Courses
Students MUST have passed their eighth birthday before joining one of our sailing courses.Medina Valley Centre reserves the right to alter its advertised programme should this prove necessary due to weather or other factors beyond our control.
Young People (aged 8-15)
1. Learn to Sail Oppies
RYA Start Sailing Stage 1 and 2A safe and fun introduction to sailing in Optimist dinghies, which develops a range of sailing skills. The Stage 1 course runs on Monday and Tuesday which teaches the basics about being in a boat and on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday skills are developed to complete Stage 2.

2. Learn to Sail Picos
RYA Start Sailing Stage 1 and 2A safe and fun introduction to sailing in Laser Pico sailing dinghies, which develops a range of sailing skills. The Stage 1 course runs on Monday and Tuesday which teaches the basics about being in a boat and on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday skills are developed to complete Stage 2.

3. Improve your Sailing
RYA Start Sailing Stage 3Now you can sail, you will want to improve your skills and have more fun! This 5 day sailing course in either Optimists or Laser Picos does just that! RYA Start Sailing Stage 3 is taught but this course is also suitable for those who just want to practice.

4. Sail Fast in a Topaz
RYA Start Sailing Stage 4Now you can sail, you will want to improve your skills and have more fun! This is a 5 day sailing course in crewed dinghies. RYA Start Sailing Stage 4 prepares the student for more advanced sailing modules.

6. Performance and Spinnaker Sailing
RYA Performance and Spinnaker ModulesImprove your skill and enjoy the thrill of performance dinghies and learn how to use spinnakers to go that extra bit faster!
Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Boats: Laser II Regatta and Laser 3000
7. Seamanship
RYA Seamanship ModuleThis 2 day module is a must for all sailors! This course aims to teach you how to handle the boat in all circumstances and solve problems going afloat. Takes place Monday and Tuesday before the Day Sailing module on Wednesday to Friday.
Level: Intermediate to Advanced

8. Day Sailing
RYA Day Sailing ModuleThis 3 day module teaches some of the more advanced aspects of navigation and meteorology to enable you to plan a day out on the water. Takes place Wednesday to Friday after the Seamanship module.

9. Learn to Sail Seastars
RYA Level 1 and 2A safe and fun introduction to dinghy sailing in the Seastar for young people and adults. This course will teach you to become a competent sailor in light winds.

10. Brush-up your skills
An opportunity to have some fun and improve your sailing. Come either for half a day, one day, two days or the whole week. Course content will be varied according to the level of skill of the participants. It is possible to organise single of half day sessions.Level: Intermediate

11. Instructor Training Course
RYA Dinghy InstructorDo you enjoy sailing and want to pass your skills onto others? All candidates for this course must have passed a RYA Pre-entry Assessment, RYA Powerboat Level 2 and must hold a valid First Aid certificate.
