Outdoor Activities

Orienteering: children are taught how to set a map and use a compass, develop these skills over the course of the morning before tackling a competitive course in pairs in a nearby forest. Taught by British Orienteering Instructors and ribbons are presented to the winners.

Day Hike: children hike across many of the footpaths on the Isle of Wight, taking in beautiful scenery whilst enjoying the physical challenge.

Sailing: a challenging activity which encourages children to think for themselves and learn something new in a safe and very fun way! Taught by Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Instructors. For more information see our sailing pages.

Canoeing: learn basic canoeing skills, develop team work and co-ordination skills, whilst having fun on the water. Taught by British Canoe Union (BCU) Coaches. For more information see our canoeing pages.

Kayaking: learn basic skills and paddling techniques through games and exercises. Taught by British Canoe Union (BCU) Coaches. For more information see our canoeing pages.

River Safari Challenge:
navigate a circular route by canoe/kayak, bike or by foot. Explore the Medina estuary - it's water, it's mud and it's living things!
