INSET & Open Days

Open Days

On Monday and Tuesday, 18th and 19th October 2010, the Centre will be open from 2.30 to 6pm for teachers to call in at any time.

Looking for a high quality centre to bring your school or youth group?

Visit our residential centre for environmental and outdoor education on the banks of the Medina Estuary, Isle of Wight.

A golden opportunity to...

  • look at the facilities and grounds,
  • meet our staff
  • learn more about activities and programmes that we are currently running, including watersports (canoe safaris, sailing, kayaking), orienteering and field studies from KS2 to A level.

These open days might be of particular interest to:

  • Teachers looking for ideas and resources for Learning Outside the Classroom, especially for geography and science.

  • Teachers wanting an outdoor activity based experience

  • Schools interested to embark on the John Muir Award (www.jmt.org), a popular environmental award scheme we are launching this Autumn.

  • Teachers of science, geography, geology or environmental studies looking for ideas and resources for Island-based fieldwork from KS3 to A2. Recently, we have developed a range of practical skills assessments and coursework units to meet new requirements for the various examination boards at GCSE, AS and A2 using Island locations.

  • Teachers looking for a venue for a residential experience for, say a tutor group, for one night or more, to contribute to their PSE.

Please get in touch with Sandie (522195) if you would like further information either about the Centre or the Open Days.
