Galls, Miners and Rusts recorded in the Medina Valley

A local expert on galls, leaf miners & rust fungus kindly gives us access to his records. Many new and exciting species are found in the Medina Valley on a regular basis.

Latest finds:

19th November 2012

• A rust fungus, Melampsora euphorbiae (basiniomycota uredinaes)  was found in the Centre grounds

21st September 2012

• A new Downy Mildew  for the Valley; Bremia lactucae, (Oomycota peronosporales) 

8th June 2012

• A new gall for the Centre grounds; Uromyces lineolatus (Basidiomycota uredinales)

12th March 2012

• A new micro fungus for the Valley and County; Phomopsis glandicola (Ascomycota diaporthales) found at Dodnor pond

24th October 2011

• A new micro fungus for the Valley; Erysiphe platani (was Microsphaera platani) on Platanus x hispanica (London Plane) in the Arboretum at Fairlee

23rd May 2011

• Mines of Pegomya hyoscyami sens. lat. (Diptera; Anthomyiidae) on Chenopodium bonus-henricus (Good King Henry) on the cycle track at Dodnor; new to the Valley

• A rust Kuehneola uredinis on bramble

• A gall (Neuroterus politus) caused by a gall-wasp, galling the female catkins on Quencus robur (English Oak)
