John Muir Award 'EXPLORE' activities at Medina Valley Centre
Through a variety of ‘hands-on’ activities and investigations, children explore some of the habitats in the Centre's Nature Reserve and alongside the Medina estuary. These include:- bird watching alongside the estuary
- investigating worms in the estuary mud
- mapping habitats using the Centre's nature trail
- listening out for bats on a night hike
- trapping moths for identification
- carrying out OPAL's Biodiversity survey
- observational drawings of a plant or insect
- scavenger hunts
- 'eco' art using leaves and tree bark
