Sample Residential Programmes for Primary Schools

Residential Programmes

Many schools stay for four nights since this gives time for children to settle and get the most out of a residential experience; however, we are happy to accommodate groups for one night or a whole week.  Programmes at Medina Valley Centre are always designed in consultation with your own school’s staff, depending on your children’s needs, interests and the purpose of your visit.

A programme usually contains

  • outdoor activities, such as orienteering or open canoeing
  • learning about the environment through sensory games or structured fieldwork enquiries
  • team work and the chance for students to with others they do not know as well
  • recreational times
  • chances to review and reflect on their experiences, such as through games or the awarding of certificates

John Muir Award

All groups are also encouraged to participate in the John Muir Award Scheme. Click here for more details

Day Programmes (non residential)

Almost all of our activities can be used for Island schools who want to get out of the classroom for a half or full day. These days come with all the perks of a residential fieldtrip with the added bonus of being cost effective.
