Courses

Each course is taught to the highest level by a team of qualified and highly enthusiastic instructors. We aim to give you maximum enjoyment in a safe and friendly environment conducive to learning. However, students should be aware that certain inherent risks remain which are integral to the adventurous nature of sailing activities and which cannot be eliminated without destroying their unique character.

An informal assessment of the student's skills will be made at the start of each course to ensure that they are on the most suitable course and we reserve the right to transfer a student to a less (or more) advanced course should we consider it advisable.

All of our courses include some theory, and for young people games & other activities, as well as the practical time on the water. Depending on the level of the course, topics such as ropework, basic weather and tidal processes are covered.

Most courses run from Monday to Friday, although some are taught over weekends or evenings, and run from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. The costs given for the courses are non-residential, but include lunch. We can provide accommodation on-site if required.

Dinghy Sailing

Most dinghy sailing courses follow the Royal Yachting Association's (RYA) National or Youth Sailing Scheme. RYA courses are initially progressive, and then follow a modular format. Although our aim is that every student will achieve the particular award advertised on their course, weather or other factors may mean they are unable to achieve all aspects of the syllabus. However, if this is the case, their attainment will be recorded and signed off in the log book.

For more information about RYA dinghy sailing courses see the RYA's website.
