RYA Sailability

RYA Sailability has awarded us Foundation Status for semi-ambulant sailors. We have a hydraulic hoist to assist sailors with disabilities in getting into and out of the boats. Along with our fleet of boats, we have two Challenger Trimarans designed for people with limited mobility.

Our facilities are all on the ground floor but it should be noted that there are slopes on to the pontoon which can be steep at certain states of the tide. Successful disabled sailing students at the Centre have included those who are deaf and partially sighted as well as those suffering from balance problems.

When not on the water, guests need to be able to manage everyday personal living tasks without the aid of a carer or alternatively, bring their own carers with them. We can advise on carers available on the Island but costs are the responsibility of the guest.

For more information for this aspect of our work, please contact us to discuss the possibilities further with Frank Cope, the Principal of the Sailing School.
