60- 70 m.p.h. winds generated huge waves which battered the Isle of Wight coast at the weekend, as the second named storm of the autumn tracked across southern England, Storm Brian.
The storm coincided with high spring tides at midday as skies cleared, sunlight backlighting the spray as waves collided with the chalk cliffs and sea defences round Freshwater Bay
