Host - Maternity Cover
We will soon have a temporary vacancy to cover the maternity leave of one of our hosts. There is a need for overnight cover for both sexes and so we are looking for a female to work alongside the current male host, who is the expectant father!
We would like someone to start by mid April and continue until around mid November. Duties include welcoming groups to the Centre, giving a short thought for the day before breakfast and being around in the evenings, providing activities and/or manning the non-alcoholic bar and tuck shop. Applicants must be able to relate to young people in an informal way, and be prepared to answer questions about their faith – in fact part of the job is to provoke these questions.
As the main responsibilities are for the first part of the mornings as well as the evenings, there is a fair amount of free time during the day. During the Summer the Centre runs RYA Dinghy sailing courses and some introductory canoeing and kayaking sessions, so there may be opportunities to gain qualifications and experience in these areas.
This post would suit someone who is looking to gain some experience in Christian youth work. Residential staff members are part of a Christian intentional community and we provide board and accommodation and pocket money.
If you would like to discuss the post please contact Frank Cope (01983 522195)

Training opportunities
In you are an experienced dinghy sailor but are not yet an RYA qualified instructor, we run two Assistant Instructor courses per year. These courses run for three weeks and include; an RYA level 2 Powerboat course, learning and operating procedures at the Centre, as well as instruction in RYA teaching techniques and time spent alongside qualified and experienced instructors. Accommodation is available and pocket money is paid. This course qualifies you to work at the centre as an Assistant Instructor and can lead on to taking the RYA instructor course here.
If you are interested in training opportunities with us send details of your experience to Frank Cope.
