About the Medina Valley Centre

The Medina Valley Centre is a vibrant and welcoming independent Field Studies and Outdoor Education Centre based at the heart of the Isle of Wight.

Our Fieldwork programmes offer nearly 40 years of experience in delivering high quality courses to young people from KS2 to A Level, and from all walks of life. Our team of field study tutors are experienced and well-qualified Geography and Biology teachers, with specialist knowledge of the fieldwork requirements of all the GCSE and A-level exam boards. The fieldwork programmes are tailored to meet the specific requirements for each school.

Our multi-activity programmes are led by our skilled activity team, who bring fun and challenge to their sessions whilst embedding learning, growing confidence and encouraging teamwork. We celebrate achievements and focus on improving communication through a variety of activities, including canoeing, kayaking, archery, team challenges and bushcraft sessions.

At the Medina Valley Centre, we believe that community values and experiences are vital! Our staff spend time getting to know all the groups who come to the Centre. We regularly hear in the feedback that the Centre “has a wonderful family atmosphere” and we strive to ensure that guests leave the Island having had a valuable educational experience, but also with enhanced self-confidence through being valued and cared for by the whole team.

Field Studies Professional Practice Group

The Field Studies Professional Practice Group is made up of members who are engaged in, or have an interest in delivering study led programmes in Field Studies or Environmental Education. Many of the members are based at residential centres. Both Fieldwork and Environmental Education are long established ‘branches’ of outdoor learning and members have a wealth of experience to share. The Medina Valley Centre is part of this group and we benefit from opportunities to network with colleagues and access to training opportunities.
