Positions Available

Head of Centre

We are seeking to appoint a new Head of Centre. The Centre employs around 25 staff who work in all areas of the organisation.

The foundation and aims of the Centre are built around the Christian faith so there is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the applicant to be a practising Christian who subscribes to our vision and values statement.

In addition to their Christian faith, the successful applicant will have proven successful leadership skills and demonstrate the relevant qualifications and experience needed to lead a small business, including HR, finance, marketing, health and safety and effective communication. In addition, you will need an understanding of Field Studies and Multi-Activities, as well as compliance for visiting schools regarding safeguarding, risk assessment and training. The existing staff and the Board are supportive, and we have a great team who have the individual skills and expertise to deliver our courses. The Head of Centre’s job is to lead and co-ordinate the teams to ensure that all work together to achieve our goals.

Senior Instructor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Instructor to join our team! We are seeking an individual with a passion for the outdoors and a lively Christian faith who can be a leading part of our activity team.

Deputising for the Chief instructor you will have responsibility for assigned areas of the activity department. You will be heavily involved with training our first and second year trainees, and will be a strong role model to our budding instructors. During the winter months you will be involved in Centre development and preparation for the coming season. Through the activity season you will be a key part of the activity delivery team, with responsibility for leading groups and delivering / supervising a range of activity sessions.

Required Qualifications :

  • First aid
  • BCU Level 1 coach
  • Dinghy Instructor

Plus at least 1 of :

  • RYA Senior Instructor
  • BCU level 2 coach

At least 1 of the following preferred:

  • GNAS
  • CWA
  • SPA
  • British Cycling MTB level 1 (or higher)
  • NSRA Instructor

Remuneration :

Trainee Outdoors Instructors

We are seeking individuals with a passion for the outdoors and an active Christian faith to join our team as 1st year trainees. After your first year you will have an opportunity to apply for a limited number of 2nd year places.

Your role would be highly varied and encompass all elements of Centre life. Through the winter you will be training towards your NGB outdoors awards as well as in a range of in-house activities, planning the morning thoughts for the year, getting stuck in with Centre maintenance and so much more!

Once the season kicks in and our first groups arrive you will be at the forefront of our activity delivery team, working with groups of young people to deliver high quality and developmental outdoor activity sessions!

Through your first year with us you will have the opportunity to gain:

  • RYA stage 1, 2, 3, seamanship and day sailing
  • BCU 2 star (Canoe and Kayak)
  • Powerboat level 2
  • Food hygiene
  • First aid
  • Safeguarding training
  • RYA Dinghy Instructor
  • BCU level 1 coach

Remuneration :

  • Full training
